Schottky diodes have low forward voltage drop and fast switching speeds compared with a rectifier diode. This makes the diode to be popularly used in reverse polarity protection circuit and other time constraint switching circuits. The downside of the diode is that it has low reverse breakdown voltage. The features of the 1N5822 diode are
- Forward Voltage drop: 0.39 @ 1A
- Reverse Voltage: 28V (RMS)
- Forward Current: 3A
- Forward surge current: 80A
- Guardring for overvoltage protection
- Very small conduction losses
- Extremely fast switching
- Low forward voltage drop
- High forward surge capability
- High frequency operation
- Solder dip 275 °C max. 10 s, per JESD 22-B106
Typical 1N5822 Diode Applications:
- Used in low voltage high frequency inverters
- DC-DC converters
- Polarity protection applications
