Tilt sensors are used to measure the orientation from horizontal reference plane of any object. People use bubble method to identify orientation, string method and accelerometer to do that but it is one of the most important aspect of any RC plane or quadcopter flight to stop the orientation from going beyond a certain point from horizontal plane also the same function for Robots and Autonomous vehicles. This KY017 Mercury Tilt Switch Module measures the orientation and if the orientation goes beyond a certain level it gives out a digital signal on the signal Pin which can be used to read by the Arduino or Raspberry Pi or any development board you are using by taking input on any of the GPIO pins on offer. There is a metal ball in an enclosure in this sensor module with electrical contacts when it tilts and makes contacts, it sends the signal back to the microcontroller you are using. It is small in size, economic and very easy to interface with any of the microcontroller you are using.
